H. C. R. 10--"Directing the State Board of Education to undertake
a study of the feasibility of county boards of education renting
school facilities to private groups and organizations for
short-term intensive training programs including academic courses
which are taught by programs accredited by the state board of
education and which may be transferred to and accepted by public
school programs for credit toward graduation."
Whereas
, Worker training and worker retraining programs are
becoming increasingly important to the economic well-being of
communities; and
Whereas
, Space and facilities appropriate for conducting
training are not available for short-term intensive programs; and
Whereas
, Space and facilities of the public schools are
under utilized during summer months and school breaks; therefore,
be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the State Board of Education is hereby directed to
undertake a study of the feasibility of county boards of
education renting school facilities to private groups and
organizations for short-term intensive training programs
including academic courses which are taught by programs
accredited by the state board of education and which may be
transferred to and accepted by public school programs for credit
toward graduation; and, be it
Further Resolved,
That the State Board of Education is
directed to report its findings and conclusions to the President
of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Delegates on the
first day of the 1994 regular session of the Legislature; and, be
it
Further Resolved,
That the Clerk is hereby directed to send
a copy of this resolution to the State Board of Education.
